loyale is a fashion-forward, sustainable clothing company that aims to make the simple act of getting dressed in the morning world
changing. in 2005, Jenny Hwa founded loyale to provide eco-chic apparel for women who are equally conscious about fashion as they
are about the environment. the intention of loyale is to inspire activism by designing stylish clothing that is crafted exclusively using sustainable fabrics and to create a shift in consciousness where commerce and compassion for the planet can coexist. these convictions, coupled with her work experience at catherine malandrino, kate spade, chaiken and calypso christiane celle, as well as her business and fashion degrees from dominican university and f.i.t. laid the foundation for the creation of loyale. fans include Blake Lively, Rachel McAdams, Jessica Alba, Emily Deschanel and Alice Waters.
loyale's clothing is inspired by understated sophistication, alluring fit and sustainable fabrics for the fashionably conscious set. taking an ecological stance, while creating frocks with beckoning silhouettes and charming details are loyale's signature criterions.
each year non-organic cotton production utilizes 25% of the world’s insecticides and more than 10% of the pesticides. many of these EPA-approved pesticides were registered years before extensive research linked these chemicals to cancer and other diseases. alarmingly, it takes 1/3 lb. of pesticides and fertilizers to grow enough cotton for just one t-shirt and routinely 14 million americans are consuming water contaminated with pesticides from traditional agricultural farming techniques. a bit of food for thought: a conventional pair of jeans and a t-shirt contain 2 cups of toxins imbedded within the fibers due to the chemical-intensive growing and production methods of conventional cotton. in contrast, organic cotton is grown using methods and elements that have a low impact on the environment and its inhabitants. organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, reduce the use of toxic pesticides and fertilizers, while building a biologically diverse and healthy ecosystem for everyone to enjoy. learn more about the importance of going organic at www.ota.com.
factory reclaimed overstock fabrics
each year there are thousands of yards of beautiful and unspoiled fabric left over at textile mills and design houses. for select loyale garments these surplus fabrics are utilized with the goal of moderating the consumption of virgin components that take a great amount of resources and energy to produce.
color grown organic cotton
the ancient south american art of growing naturally-colored cotton has finally become available in luxurious prints. the organic plant blooms from seed to flower in full color varying from brown, green and blue. these fabrics feel luxurious and supple to the touch, as color grown organic cotton only requires naturally scouring and no dyes are needed.
global warming ready
as the seasons and weather continue to prove unpredictable, we are careful about fabric weights and styling. with fall being shipped in august, we have found the following weeks to november are exceedingly warm while we ship spring in march and warm days now arrive later in may. in response, we've created several seasonless styles that can morph from wearable in the moment to perfect layering pieces as the cold or warm sets in.
at times we work with high-end sustainable, fair-trade fabrics that merit higher price points due to increased expeditures of working with these luxury fabrics. In response, we have launched loyale luxe. each luxe garment has a special label delineating it from the rest of the collection.
loyale works exclusively with recycled and tree-free paper products. these alternatives to virgin paper preserves old growth forests, conserves energy (fossil fuels and purchased energy), reduces green house gas emissions, wasted landfill space and the volume of polluted wastewater that run from paper mills. consider that recycling 1 ton of paper saves 17 trees, 2 barrels of oil, 4,100 kilowatts of energy and 3.2 cubic yards of landfill. moreover, if we recycled all the newspapers printed on an average sunday in america, 26 million trees would be saved per year.
made in the u.s.a.
in an effort to keep the garment industry alive and thriving in america, many loyale styles are made domestically.
contribution to an environmental non-profit
supporting organizations that are fighting for the preservation of the environment is an honor. loyale contributes 1% of annual profits to green corps, a non-profit that trains the next generation of environmental leaders. they acquire the skills necessary to win future environmental battles while providing critical field support to numerous national non-profits who are addressing today’s pressing environmental problems. learn more about the importance of green corps at www.greencorps.org.
